Dr. Sada Danmusa is a public health consultant with over 25 years of experience advancing health initiatives across Nigeria. He specializes in leading large-scale programs in family planning, nutrition, and primary healthcare, with a focus on scaling sustainable solutions. From working with top government officials to grassroots implementation, Dr. Danmusa aligns public policies with community needs, securing government and donor support for long-term impact. His expertise in strengthening health systems at both national and sub-national levels has made him a trusted advisor in public health innovation. Currently, Dr. Danmusa serves as the Lead Technical Advisor on Public Health and Nutrition to Nigeria’s Vice President. He was instrumental in designing the Nutrition-774 initiative, addressing food security across all 774 local government areas. He also leads a team of experts providing scaling expertise to guide the scale up of health services through Community Pharmacies (CPs) and Proprietary Patent Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s IntegratE Project.
A hallmark of Dr. Danmusa’s career is his strategic approach to scaling health programs. As Project Director of the Gates Foundation-funded Technical Support Unit (TSU), he led the development of national and sub-national family planning costed implementation plans and nationwide scaling of DMPA-SC (Sayana Press). He has shaped Nigeria’s FP2020 and FP2030 commitments, ensuring measurable outcomes using frameworks like the Balanced Scorecard. His research on scaling Magnesium Sulphate for eclampsia and Misoprostol for postpartum hemorrhage has further advanced maternal health outcomes in Nigeria.
