Marie Mukabatsinda is an independent consultant, having previously served for 20 years as the Rwanda Country Representative and the Regional Technical Advisor at the Institute for Reproductive Health, Georgetown University. Marie has over 25 years of experience in International Public Health programming: she has headed numerous health innovations in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Family Planning (FP), Gender, HIV/AIDS, Behavior Change Communication and Social Marketing. She provided international capacity in Family Planning and ASRH. She managed several Youth and FBOs-focused interventions. Marie has also co-led studies in Reproductive Health and Gender including impact studies, testing innovations, evaluation of innovations and behavioral. Marie headed the introduction and scaling up FP innovation using ExpandNet Model in Rwanda and she provided technical support for scale up Social Norms interventions innovations. Marie provided also technical support to the introduction and scaling up FP in the context of FBOs in Niger. She has been active member of Family Planning Technical Working Group (FPTWG) and worked closely with the Ministry of Health and Partners. Prior that, Marie worked with Population Services International (PSI) in different positions: Marketing Director, Communication Manager and Women Program coordinator.
Marie’s experience as an independent consultant highlights her ability to contribute significantly to various organizations, government and projects in the field of Family Planning (FP). Her diverse portfolio demonstrates her expertise and adaptability in addressing different FP challenges: in 2023-2024, Marie developed FP2030 Country Commitments Implementation Plan, Faith FP booklet and revised the FP reference manual for UNFPA and the Rwanda Ministry of Health. She also led the National Composite Index for FP in Rwanda for Track 20/Avenir Health. She is currently finalizing an evaluation of FP Program in DRC for DKT International.
