Bethany Arnold

Bethany Arnold, MSPH, CHES, is a Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FP/RH) Technical Advisor with USAID’s Office of Population and Reproductive Health. Bethany is a recognized technical implementation expert in the FP/RH field, with a focus on postabortion care and postpartum family planning, social and behavior change, and adolescent and youth health. She specializes in community-driven and participatory public health interventions, often with a focus on francophone West Africa. Bethany is a skilled facilitator, workshop designer, curriculum developer, and health educator. At USAID, she works with USAID Missions and projects to support their implementation and scale-up of the High-Impact Practices (HIPs) for family planning and provides technical leadership to several FP/RH focused projects. Prior to joining USAID, Bethany spent several years with Jhpiego as a Technical Advisor and Program Officer, providing technical leadership to family planning programs in West Africa, focused on scaling up postpartum and postabortion family planning services, new self-care methods, and provider behavior change interventions. Prior to that, she worked at the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, exploring research around HIV-related behaviors and malaria prevention. Bethany holds a MSPH in Health Education and Health Communication from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Bachelor’s in International Studies from American University, and several graduate level certificates, including in Design Thinking from the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business. Bethany’s passion for and commitment global health began during her time in Senegal with the U.S. Peace Corps.
