Previously Team Leader of the Technical Support Team, Department of Reproductive Health and Research, World Health Organization, Geneva. Based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dr. Alexis Ntabona is a Medical Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, trained at the University of Kinshasa. He has a Master’s in Public Health from San Diego State University. After serving five years as Head of Community Medicine at the University of Kinshasa, he joined WHO in 1993. He worked with the WHO Africa Regional Office as Regional Adviser for Safe Motherhood and on reproductive health generally. He later moved to WHO Headquarters in Geneva with the Department of Reproductive Health and Research and for ten years, coordinated the work on Technical Cooperation with Countries. As a founding member of ExpandNet since 2003, he has participated in providing technical support to the development of scaling-up strategies in several countries, including the DRC, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Senegal Sierra Leone, and Uganda.
